English based clothing chain, Esprit, opened its US flagship store in New York City, with a unique cause marketing promotion. On opening day shoppers could try on new Esprit outfits and if they liked them take them home for free while leaving the clothes they came in wearing. Esprit donated all the remaining clothes to the local Salvation Army.
Said John Gunn , CEO of Esprit: "We have always been philanthropic in the past. This is a great time to give back to New York and the people. I think that any company that is substantial and wants to sustain itself should always look for opportunities to give back to the people."
